Healthier Employees

Fransen Pittman President John Pittman credits the company’s wellness program with improving employee health. For example, one employee transformed their life after his first annual biometric screening revealed health concerns.

“It prompted a total lifestyle overhaul. He changed his diet, increased his physical activity, and at the end of the program year, he was first place on the company leaderboard with most points earned,” John says.

The employee followed a WellSteps behavior change program to eat a healthier diet and increase activity levels – and the results were remarkable. He lost 55 pounds, his blood levels stabilized, and he even completed his first mountain bike race, placing 11th out of 63 riders in his class. He also biked 111 miles in a single day during a fundraiser to support MS research.

Behavior Change Leads to Remarkable Results
A Fransen Pittman employee offered this testimonial about the company’s wellness program.
“After joining the Fransen Pittman team in August of 2018, I quickly realized how incredible the wellness program was. Not having put my health as high of a priority as I should have prior to joining the FP team, I found myself overweight and generally unhealthy. Through a company-sponsored biometric screening, I soon found that I had some concerning blood levels as well. After beginning the WellSteps program, I have changed my lifestyle quite dramatically. I’ve been able to lose over 55 pounds, and all of my blood levels have become much more stable. It has become such an ingrained part of my life that my wife and two young daughters have also become believers in leading a better, healthier lifestyle. As I have become healthier, I have been able to embrace and become much more active in hobbies I previously struggled with, doing more with confidence and passion.
Along with the great physical benefits I’ve experienced, I have also become very aware of how much my mental health has benefited and improved. I couldn’t have made these great changes without the support from Fransen Pittman and their wellness program.”

John says other employees have similarly improved their wellbeing by quitting smoking, losing weight, and increasing activity levels. He adds that the wellness program has fostered camaraderie through company challenges and contests.

“Through group activities such as 14er mountain climbs, MS150 bike rides, and more, our employees are challenging themselves to push their physical and mental boundaries to overcome things they didn’t think that they could accomplish,” John says.

Improved Culture

Fransen Pittman’s wellness program contributes to its strong culture. John says the company is focused on making people’s lives better, and they created their wellness program to reflect that purpose.

“More than just quantitatively measuring the health of our employees, what I’m most proud of is watching the web of benefits emerge from this program that we didn’t even expect,” he says. “For example, we support the community and promote a great cause through our annual MS150 bike ride and fundraising. I’ve seen the financial strain of our employees resolve and their day-to-day attitude improve.

“Most of all, our wellness program has become embedded in our culture. Our wellness program is more than just diet and physical fitness, it’s about how a person functions at all levels.”

Why Fransen Pittman Chose WellSteps

Companies have many wellness options, and no two programs are alike. John says that prior to WellSteps, Fransen Pittman had an informal program that primarily consisted of Fitbit step challenges. FP realized they needed to invest in wellness, and ultimately selected WellSteps based on a recommendation from their broker consultant.
