Wellness Case Study Success Stories
As this wellness case study shows, our client partnered with WellSteps to design a wellness program that improves employee health, motivates participation, and lowers benefits costs.
Benefits-Based Incentives Drive Employee Participation
Our client’s wellness program certainly fosters employee participation through benefits-based incentives.
“This company utilizes user categories and awards different incentive amounts depending on enrollment. They also award those that are not enrolled in coverage with a gift card. Yes, the company is very generous, but the individuals do have to work for it,” says WellSteps guide Carli Thornton.
Incentives are powerful motivators that not only influence participation, but also employee health.
“Our associates are the most important asset of our company. We wanted associates who were healthy and happy. We also wanted our associates to start making connections and relationships with primary care doctors who could help them ‘connect the dots’ when it came to their healthcare,” says the logistic company’s wellness coordinator. “Our associates earn rewards points that can become savings on their benefits the following year. WellSteps put that together in a neat little package for us.”

Improved Employee Health
Our client’s wellness program has cultivated a culture of physical and mental health for its employees. Their wellness coordinator says that, since enrolling in WellSteps, more employees are paying attention to their health and behaviors, making small changes that lead to bigger results.
“I think the biggest thing is that they are taking more responsibility for their health, and hopefully that will result in better physical and mental health,” she says.
The program extends beyond the office, as the associate’s portal also includes activities for spouses and families. For some, the program has been life-changing.
“The individual success stories stand out the most to me,” says Carli. “We even had an individual say that the WellSteps program ‘saved his life.’”
Leadership is critical to our client’s wellness program success, and Carli says their wellness coordinator is outstanding.
“She is amazing! She goes above and beyond to promote the program and involves the head of HR across their many locations. Some of those HR heads are very involved in promoting the program,” says Carli. “Their wellness coordinator is very responsive and attends all meetings. She always comes with new ideas to promote the program and loves integrating new WellSteps products into their portal. It is the same program year after year, but we are still able to keep it fresh.”

Reduced Healthcare Costs
In addition to improving employee health and earning high participation rates, our client has been able to help employees cut healthcare costs through its wellness program.
“Our plan is designed to reward associates for incorporating healthy habits by lowering their benefits premiums,” their wellness coordinator says. “Depending on the coverage our participating associates elect and how much they engage with the program, they could save up to 35% on their benefits premiums.”

Why a Global Logistics Provider Chose WellSteps for its Wellness Program
Companies have many wellness options, and no programs are created equal. Our client partnered with WellSteps for our comprehensive wellness content, ongoing support, and overall value.
“We didn’t have an organized wellness program before WellSteps. We looked at quite a few programs before we finally decided that WellSteps would meet our company needs the best,” their wellness coordinator says. “Some of the other programs were very gamified, others were too dull. Some were websites trying to do wellness and did not know what kind of content is needed. WellSteps was health and wellness content that was put into a website. And, they are a good value.”
In short, some of her favorite WellSteps features are its ease of use, behavior change campaigns, Quizzeos, and learning opportunities.
“WellSteps has been a wonderful partner from the start! Our WellSteps guides have always been helpful and super responsive,” she adds. “Next year will be Year 10 with them walking alongside us with wellness.”
As this wellness case study illustrates, it’s crucial to choose the right wellness partner for your company, as a wellness program that’s customized to your unique needs delivers significant benefits – from healthier employees to lower overall costs.
